I got introduced to BoA right from her very first Korean album ID; Peace B by a Korean exchange student at my school in Canada in 2000. In 1997, I had already been introduced to Japanese artists L'Arc-en-Ciel and Namie Amuro. In 1999 I discovered Ayumi Hamasaki. For the longest time, the only Korean artists I listened to were BoA, Chae Yeon (the one who was popular in the early 00's) and Lee Hyori. I've since gotten into a few more including 2NE1, Jay Park and BIGBANG, but never become a HUGE fan of tons of KPOP. I will admit though, that I miss some of these more simple packaging of KPOP though. Some designs for packaging now can be hit or miss as some aren't very practical for protecting the disks.
